The Last Moon in Capricorn: Receiving the Ceremony We Never Had

There are moments when the planets conspire to open a doorway. This New Moon at 29 degrees Capricorn is one of them. The 29th degree is the last step before the crossing - that moment when we are no longer what we were, but not yet what we're becoming. And Saturn, Capricorn's ruler, stands at the edge of Pisces at 27 degrees, conjunct Neptune at 29. Two giants about to tip over. Neptune is preparing to enter Aries for the first time in 165 years. A cycle far longer than a human lifetime. A new collective dream is beginning, but first - we must complete the old one and let dissolve what needs to die.
At the same time, Vesta joins Pluto in Aquarius. The keeper of the eternal flame meets the lord of underworld. Sacred fire enters absolute darkness. This is an alchemical union, one that reshapes us from the inside out. What armor must melt so the adult can finally be born?

I want to share the story of Alma, a beautiful Mexican woman of Apache lineage, pregnant with her second child, who came to me to heal her past birth trauma before giving birth again. I'm grateful for the trust she placed in me and for allowing me to share her journey.
During her first birth, Alma had received an invasive and painful vaginal exam that lasted an hour. Her labor completely stopped. She froze. And in that freezing, other memories surfaced - forced suppositories when she was very small, a terrifying first gynecological examination at age 12.
Our session took place on the full moon in Cancer - and Alma herself is a Cancerian. A timing that was no accident. I need to clarify here something important: normally, I don't do trauma work with pregnant women. The mother's nervous system and the baby's are intertwined - what one feels, the other does too. But Alma had already done several years of healing work. So before we began, we created a protective cocoon for her unborn baby. In hypnosis, we wrapped him in a bubble of light and love - a sanctuary where he could remain cradled while his mother would release what was needed.
I asked Alma if she had any dreams the night before, because the unconscious often sends us a message before a healing process.
Her face lit up.
Yes, two Apache teenage girls came to her and wanted to bless her feet. Normally, the Apache use pollen for blessings. But since they didn't have pollen, they had used peyote and chili powder instead.
Alma then told me that she had lived in Arizona in Apache tribes to learn their traditions and bring them back to Mexico. She had participated in the first Apache ceremony in Mexico, where the young girls received their ceremonial dresses.
Among the Apache, as with many Indigenous peoples, a girl is honoured when she experiences her first bleeding. A sacred dress is embroidered for her. She is recognized and celebrated by her community, and her passage into womanhood is witnessed. She therefore knows who she is.
Listening to her dream, I understood that her adolescent part needed to receive her ceremonial dress.
So during our session, I didn't take her back to revisit her traumas, nor did I suggest confronting the people who had abused her. Instead, I followed her dream.
I invited her thirteen-year-old part to receive her embroidered robe and to stand tall before her entire tribe. She felt the sacred weight of the fabric against her skin and heard the drums reverberate through her rib cage. Pride flooded her body, a fierce and undeniable pride, rising from her belly to her throat. In her bones, in her blood, in the marrow, in every single cell, she knew: I am becoming a woman. This is sacred. I am powerful.
And something extraordinary happened.
When she could see her entire life through the eyes of a young Apache woman who had been initiated - her heart opened and the traumas melted away. There was only love flowing through her, joy, trust, power. The Apache ancestors were there, blessing her.
Why did it seem important to me to share this story under this Capricorn moon?
Because although we are not all descendants of Apaches, our ancestors also had rites of passage, especially at the arrival of puberty. They also knew how to accompany a young girl becoming a woman. We have unfortunately completely lost that. We no longer know who we are. No one embroidered us a robe. No one told us: "I see you. You are powerful and sacred. Welcome to the clan of women!"
So our child and adolescent parts remain locked in fear and shame, and in the feeling of never being enough. They overwhelm us constantly because they were never initiated.
How many of us are still inhabited by that young girl who was humiliated during her first period? By that teenager who was told to be quiet and behave properly?
Saturn, Capricorn's ruler, is the structure, the authority. And right now, it's asking us to become the authority for our own young parts. We need to become the kind father and nurturing mother we often didn't have.
This New Moon at the last degree of Capricorn invites us to hold space for our younger parts, to offer them the initiation they never received, so we can embody this Capricornian energy and become a fully-functional Adult - an Elder. It's impossible to erase the past, but we can transform the relationship we have with these parts of us that are still frozen in pain.
Neptune is about to enter Aries: A new cycle begins, a new collective dream emerges. But before we can carry this new dream, we must first clear out the old. 2026, this new nine-year cycle, must be entered with the Adult at the wheel, not the younger Part that is afraid, nor the one who wants to please at all costs, and especially not the one who sacrifices herself hoping to finally be loved. These parts belong with us, but they are no longer meant to lead. They need to be safely held in the back seat, protected and contained, while the Adult is driving.
RITUAL FOR THE NEW MOON AT 29° CAPRICORN SUNDAY JANUARY 18TH, 2026
Receiving the Ceremony We Never Had
What you need:
a candle (for Vesta, keeper of the sacred fire)
paper and something to write with
a small object representing something precious to you (a piece of jewelry, a stone, fabric)
30-45 minutes of solitude
PART ONE: The Invitation
Light your candle. Take a few breaths to drop into your body.
Then ask out loud or in your heart: "Which part of me needs to be initiated tonight?"
Perhaps a child part who was afraid, or an adolescent part who was humiliated or ignored, or perhaps a part who had to grow up too fast.
Don't search, invite, and trust the one that shows up.
PART TWO: The Listening
Give her a voice and let her write down:
What she experienced at the moment of passage (puberty, first period, first love...)
What she would have needed to receive
How she feels now, still trapped in that scene
Write spontaneously, without correcting.
PART THREE: The Ceremony
Now, it's you - the Adult, the one who survived and done the work, who will offer the initiation.
Take your sacred object in your hands.
Out loud, speak to this young part. Tell her what no one told her at the moment of passage:
"I see you."
"You are worthy."
"What's happening to you is sacred."
"You have the right to take your place."
"I'm so proud of you."
Or find your own words.
Then bless her with your object - touch your heart, your belly, your forehead - as the Apache girls blessed Alma.
PART FOUR: The Sacred Flame
Reread the letter the part wrote to you.
When you feel ready, burn it in the candle flame.
Watch the paper transform. Pain becomes ash, and from ash comes rebirth.
PART FIVE: The Anchoring
Place your hand on your heart.
Breathe deeply three times.
Then write THREE COMMITMENTS you're making to this part for the coming year.
For example:
"I'm guiding by what opens my heart "
"I ask for help when I need it"
"I don't give beyond my limits"
Be concrete. Saturn loves actions, not good intentions.
CLOSING:
Blow out your candle while giving thanks to:
The part who came
Your ancestors
Most importantly, yourself for doing this work
And if you want, place your ceremony object somewhere you'll see it in the coming days - to remind you that initiation is an ongoing commitment.
For this New Moon, I wish for all of us to receive our ceremonial dress - even if we must embroider it ourselves. Because that's exactly what Saturn is asking of us: to become the Elder our young parts are waiting for. The world needs us to grow up and become fully functioning adults. This is the work of Capricorn, and the time is now.
Blessed New Moon to you all.
